WITH MINIVANS

Every day we organise minivans to bring you directly from Amsterdam city centre to the Zaanse Schans. The transfer takes about 30 minutes (depending on traffic).
Upon arrival you can join the Village Walk with Kaatje Slagter. Total time of the program including transfer, Village Walk, tea at the Mayor’s Mansion & free time to roam around the village: 4 hrs.
 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

  • Bus
    Connexxion-bus 391 runs from Amsterdam Central Station every fifteen minutes to the Zaanse Schans. The trip takes forty minutes. For more information: http://bus391.nl
    Connexxion-bus 817 drives in July and August from the Zaanse Schans to Volendam/Edam. For more information: 817.nl
  • Train
    The nearest railway station is Zaandijk – Zaanse Schans. This station can be reached by local train from Amsterdam Central Station in 17 minutes. Subsequently walk to the Zaanse Schans in 15 minutes.

BICYCLE TAXI

From 1 April to 1 October, a pedicab will ride between Koog Zaandijk train station and the Zaanse Schans, between 10:00 and 12:00 and between 14:00 and 16:00. In addition, taxis are available on demand, even in the off season, for example to take fun rides to the mills, Zaandam and Haaldersbroek. Call +31 (0) 6 2250 3234.

Bicycle

The Zaanse Schans is easy to reach by bike as well. A bicycle path runs both along and across a portion of the Zaanse Schans. For health and safety purposes cycling on the narrow paths between the houses is not permitted. There are for this reason plenty of bike racks to leave your bike in the large parking area.
 

FERRY AND PUBLIC JETTIES

Ferry Amsterdam CS to Zaanse SchansYou could take the Ferry  Zaanboot from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the Zaanse Schans. Duration +/- 110 minutes. This ferry also sails to Wormerveer. Check the schedule and the actual rates at www.varenindezaanstreek.nl
